7 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week 7
7 Weeks Pregnant: Common Signs and Symptoms
At 7 weeks pregnant, the uptick of hormones and blood flow increases the production of cervical mucus, which is the thin, milky-white, odorless discharge you may be noticing; it is known as leukorrhea. The cervical mucus has started to form your mucus plug.
You might feel pregnant but not look pregnant. Only a handful of women actually look pregnant at this stage. Some others have that famous pregnancy glow about them, which means that the pregnancy hormones are causing glands to pump out more oil. This can either provide a pregnant sheen or cause prenatal acne.
You are in the first trimester.
7 Weeks Pregnant – Baby’s Development
Your embryo has doubled in size by week 7. Its nose, ears, nostrils, and eyes are starting to look more defined, and its eyelids and tongue have begun to develop.
At week 7 of pregnancy, your baby’s heartbeat can be captured in an ultrasound examination, but it’s not audible. A normal fetal heartbeat at this time is around 90 to 110 beats per minute.
7 Weeks Pregnant – Self-Care Tips
- At pregnancy week 7, your baby bump is not apparent yet, but you might be feeling bigger than normal as a result of your expanding uterus and from bloating and constipation.
- Drink plenty of water to help ease discomfort.
- Increase your intake of insoluble fiber, such as whole wheat, lentils, vegetables, brown rice, flax, and fruits with skins.
8 Weeks Pregnant – Pregnancy Week 8
8 Weeks Pregnant – Common Signs and Symptoms
At 8 weeks pregnant, your uterus is rapidly expanding, and this causes the ligaments and muscles supporting it to stretch.
This growth can result in cramping. It may feel as though someone invisible is pulling on your abdomen from both sides, or it may simply mimic period cramps. All these sensations are normal and nothing to be scared of.
You may begin to feel dizzy at this point because your blood vessels are relaxing and widening.
8 Weeks Pregnant – Baby’s development
Your embryo is just an inch in length but is gradually maturing into a baby. At this point, it has all the organs and body parts of a human.
At 8 weeks pregnant, the baby’s bones are beginning to develop; her muscles can contract and her tiny elbows and wrists can bend, and the pigment is developing in the baby’s retina.
Baby’s tadpole-like appearance is gradually fading (embryonic tail included) as her body starts to straighten out and the paddle-like hands and feet begin to bud fingers and toes.
Baby’s gonads become ovaries or testes this week. Although your baby’s sex has already been determined, the ultrasound wand can’t reveal it yet
8 Weeks Pregnant – Self-Care Tips
At 8 weeks pregnant, you start to gain weight, usually 2 to 4 pounds during the first trimester.
At pregnancy week 8, some women may want to eat constantly. Others may alternate between feeling nauseous and having no appetite; this is a result of the complex interactions between hormones such as progesterone, insulin, leptin, and ghrelin.
Make sure you keep hydrated and take prenatal vitamins if you are always refusing food.
